Topic: Addiction as a Family Disease and Recovery as a Family Systems Approach

Addiction is a biological, psychological and social disease that affects families and loves ones, too, not just addicted individuals. That being the case, the ARISE Intervention Model addresses recovery through a Family Systems approach. When untreated addiction exists within families, recovery outcomes improve when the whole family is involved in the process. James will discuss perspective shifts that are useful for families to adopt, tools that can help families identify their needs, and what a parallel process of addiction recovery looks like for the entire family system, not just the Person of Concern (PoC).
