As advocates for the dignity and equitable care of individuals and families affected by substance use disorders, our work is part of a national recovery advocacy movement. Originally incorporated in South Carolina in 2004 as FAVOR Greenville, our mission is to ensure everyone affected by substance use disorders has access to the addiction support needed for long-term recovery. We shine a light on the faces of recovery and give their stories a voice so we can help others in the area who are facing the same battles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does FAVOR stand for?

FAVOR stands for Faces and Voices of Recovery. As an organization dedicated to de-stigmatizing addiction and normalizing recovery through advocacy, education, and leadership, FAVOR connects and mobilizes diverse faces and voices that represent hope, healing, and lived experience.

How do I get started with FAVOR’s services?

To get started, please fill out the Request Help Form or call our Helpline at 864-430-1802. A FAVOR team member will then reach out to you directly to answer any questions and discuss what programs may be the best fit for you.

What are recovery support services?

Recovery support services at FAVOR Upstate focus on finding and sustaining recovery through strengths-based recovery support. Our services enhance community connections and support participants throughout their addiction recovery journey. Our personalized care assists in managing acute withdrawal symptoms and empowers participants to continue avoiding use in the weeks, months, and years ahead, making a lasting impact in their lives.

How is FAVOR different from other organizations and service providers?

FAVOR Upstate recognizes diverse paths to recovery and prioritizes family-centered programming. Our non-clinical, person-centered approach supports lifelong recovery, emphasizing strengths rather than deficits, and involves participants and their families in their recovery journeys.

Why does the Upstate community need a recovery community center?

Only about 10% of individuals facing addiction currently receive appropriate treatment or support for recovery. With a substantial need for coordinated care and recovery support, FAVOR Upstate serves as a vital resource in addressing substance use disorders.

Research shows that our community lacks a coordinated system of care for substance use disorders and many people are unaware of available services and how to access support for recovery. Our services address this need by meeting individuals where they are and giving them the tools they need to make a lasting impact on their life at no cost to them.
